Species of Spaces
Winter 2025

The project 'Species of Spaces' examines the potential of Expanded Animation to transcend the boundaries between physical and virtual space. Drawing inspiration from the essay of the same name by Perec (1974), we will playfully develop space and spaces, from the closest to the furthest, from the physical to the virtual, from the non- to the fictional, and stretch our understanding of space. The project includes an introduction to projection mapping, lectures on 'History and Aesthetics of Animation', and the Monthly Writing Workshop.

Species of Spaces is an experimental cooperation project between Next Level ­– Festival for Games and the Folkwang University of the Arts.
